The project was set up in 2005 with the aim of monitoring and supporting the disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration processes (DDR), as well as the regulation and implementation of the Justice and Peace Law, regarding the reincorporation of former members of illegal armed groups and the prosecution of the demobilised accused of crimes against humanity, as well as the guaranteeing of victims’ rights to justice, truth and reparation. The project aims to promote international standards on transitional justice, international criminal law and the rights to truth and reparation.
With this purpose, CITpax has undertaken several activities that include meetings between different actors involved in the legal framework proposal, a workshop to foster the exchange of ideas and experiences between national legal operators and international experts on transitional justice processes, working sessions to assess and evaluate the process, the design of working tools to follow up the process, as well as the establishment of an International Observatory on the DDR process and the implementation of the Justice and Peace Law.
